Mahindra XUV Aero concept at auto expo 2016,The Mahindra XUV Aero draws design cues from the Mahindra XUV500. Dubbed as the Mahindra XUV Aero, it previews a future coupe-inspired four-door crossover from the Indian manufacturer, Chairman of Mahindra Group, Anand Mahindra, has divulged that the XUV Aero can go into mass production, but it depends on the feedback of the public he has also confirmed that the XUV Aero was styled by Mahindra and built by Pininfarina, which is now under the ownership of Mahindra.
The Mahindra XUV Aero Coupe Concept takes the idea of lifestyle vehicles to the next level. The idea is not exactly new – the concept of a SUV-coupe was first ideated and executed by BMW – it started in 2007 with the X6 Concept which was later launched in its production form in 2009. The BMW X6, for all its faults, has sold in large numbers around the world and has forced other car makers to do something similar – Mercedes-Benz revealed the GLC Coupe in 2015. XUV Aero Coupe Concept is based on the XUV 500’s platform – the concept features exaggerated lines from the latter, with 4-doors, a coupe-like roof, tail-lights inspired by the SsangYong XAV-Adventure Concept, muscular bumpers and a faux rear-diffuser. The XUV Aero also features suicide-doors, the rear doors (at least on the showcar) can only be opened after the front doors are opened.
The XUV Aero Concept features a mHawk turbocharged diesel motor developing 213PS of maximum power. The XUV Aero is also equipped with multiple driving modes which alter the drivetrain and suspension settings – this includes Race-mode, Off-road mode, Street mode and Sport mode. The XUV Aero, Mahindra claims, can accelerate from 0-60 kmph in 6 seconds.
